My guy made a trip to Japan last week for work…man alive, I was jealous.
He lived there for two years as a missionary for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I lived in Osaka for 18 months….we met after.
He works for a Japanese company headquartered in Salt Lake City but he is the manager of the East Coast. The great little thing about this gig that he has been with for several years is that he gets to speak and eat a lot of Japanese food.
One photo after another, I was salivating at the mouth. He know what I love to eat there.
Below is an Okonomiyaki and made especially in the Osaka region to taste delicatable. It is hard to find in the states…there is one little shop in NYC, Otafuku that does it right. I am also linking you to this page which lists a few other Okonomiyaki must tries if you are in the NYC area….mostly to remind myself that I must go quickly and who cares if it doesn’t work with my 28 day clean diet….it will be my reward after!
He made his way around Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima without missing a beat.
He made a stop at the mission home where he used to live claiming that it wasn’t one bit different.
His desk was just he way he remembered it.
And the rooms were the same!
One thing we both love about Japan is how the kids go nuts over the American visitors. I miss them so much seeing this post.
One of his favorite stops was Hiroshima Peace Park. He was a history major as an undergrad so this thrilled him!
