We made a whirlwind trip to Utah this weekend. I was invited to the National Advisory Council for Family, Home and Social Science. It was a two day event with a dinner and conference the second day. Also, I guest lectured in a US Geography Class for a favorite professor of mine.
It was super fun and always energizing being on campus My favorite part was mentoring the students we were set up with. I had lunch with a good friend from graduate school, Clark Monson. Clarks a great guys all around, not only is he the president of our churches son and lives up to his name, he is just all around one amazing individual. I am so happy we have continued to remain friends.
He cracks me up…he comes up and says “Do you remember how I used to tease you about a certain geographer?”, he pulls out a paper I wrote in 1993 and brought it for me, I died laughing…I can’t believe he saved my paper for 20 years. He said, I heard you were coming to town, so I rumbled through my office looking for this (He now teaches at BYU). It was great getting caught up with old colleagues.
The great thing about the weekend was seeing Hillary and spending a little time with her. We went to the football game….it was bitter cold for early fall.
We ran into friends who went to Nicaragua with us!
We stocked her up on all types of fresh fruit and veggies to help her get through another week.
Friday night was the football game and it was bitter cold. It was sooo fun being in the stadium and watching BYU football play. It brought back a million memories of my college days and watching my sweetheart play. It is where all of the memories started.
We flew out the next morning and headed to Chases game.
It was a nail biter. My instagram says it all.
It was the most exciting high school game I have been too.
Chase had a couple of key plays with a forced fumble that was a momentum changer and the final tackle that led to the victory. What a great weekend! I loved it!
