Oh boy! I am off to a bad Friday the 13th start today.
1. I woke up in the middle of the night with a kinked neck from the way I slept on my neck and I can’t move my head left or right.
This has happened to me once before and it took a week and half to get it moving correctly again and three massages.
I can safely say I am having a massage today with no complaints. I can’t move.
2. The whole place about flooded out in town with water coming from everywhere and knocking power out all over the area.
It was this unbelievable lighting and thunder show, but I was crossing my fingers that it stayed calm. While 16,000 people lost power, I reflected on Hurricane Sandy and thought I better buy a generator like pronto. I say that every year and every year I can’t find one, because every year we have huge crazy storms now.
3. I am Chase’s full time tutor. Every night I have to sit down and work with him on his homework. All of my kids have to work hard to get good grades just like I did. It just doesn’t come natural.
I hate to see the struggle when it is really about being organized and using better skills. I don’t think they teach that in school and so I am pulling out all of my self taught study methods and implementing them
Part of learning is just learning how to play the game.
I am encouraging him to meet with the teachers as much as possible, how to organize his notebooks better, how to take better notes, how to elaborate on test questions and most of all how to study more effectively. He simply isn’t studying the more efficient he can and it drives me nuts. These are skills that must be learned and by darn it, I am pulling out all of my past professor skills
He had a system down at Trinity but now we have switched to BG we have had to start all over again as nothing is done the same way. I hate the fact that we don’t get daily progress reports so we can see where we need to make changes.
Seems a tad bit archaic, don’t you think!
I did receive some satisfaction this morning when he said that he got an improved test grade on his history test about the Egyptians. Hands down I can study history and geography on any given day. There is a piece of me that still that wishes I was still teaching college. I loved those days. For now I can tutor. It is the little things people.
4. I am so excited for Friday night High School Football tonight and Chase is pumped for the game.
I love nothing more than watching him play in crisp cool weather and drinking hot chocolate.
Can’t wait for the weekend to begin!
