One of the places in America that Brian and I both love is Downtown Chicago. We lived about 1 hour 45 minutes from there when we lived on the border of Iowa and Illinois right after graduate school. We loved the corn field we lived in but enjoyed every second of going into the city when our children were under 5 years old.
We have a lot of great memories of our family in Chicago from that period of time.
We have only been back a few times in the past decade. Brian more than me for work purposes.
We spent a week there in March for the medical meeting with our two youngest kids, it was the coldest week of the year but we survived. We didn’t see much of each other that week.
So our anniversary was creeping up at the end of July and we were already booked to go to Philadelphia out of neccesity because Brian had a meeting there and we hadn’t been to Philly together in 20 although we had both been there seperate times. Bri for work and me with the kids.
Long story short, Brian got a brilliant idea of doing both cities for our anniversary weekend. We flew into Chicago for the day and night and flew to Philly the next day. It was fantastic.
The only let down was me telling him there was a Chicago Cubs game-(He is passionate about baseball and MLB Baseball too. He loves to watch the Cubbies play and has flown out to several games with Noah in their lifetime.
I must have read the memo wrong- no game! We used the night to walk around and enjoy the beauty that Chicago seems to offer.
One of our favorite things to do is ride bikes around Lake Michigan. We got up early morning from the room with a view and headed out on our adventure.
It was so peaceful, no people, lots of boats and it seemed just like the two of us out riding our little beach cruisers.
I sure love spending time with this guy and it has been the best 21 years of my life. It is hard to believe that we could have more lifetime together, let alone and eternity.
What a total awesome date- perhaps the best one we have had. I will love this guy forever!
