Every holiday people email me asking for recommendations on cameras.
Call me a tech geek or whatever, but nothing spells L-O-V-E like tech presents for the holidays.
Sure you could buy diamonds or pearls for that someone special, but nothing excites me more than a lens or a flash.
Here is my “common man” list for the holidays with my top 5 favorite picks.
1. The Nikon d3200 is your perfect consumer camera.
I am going to save all of the commentary for someone who actually speaks the real language, but if you are picking up a dSlR for your loved one, do yourself favor and grab this Nikon.
2. On top of that camera….. buy the lens bundle (Nikon is always having super deals on them right now) 55-200 to zoom in on the Roman Colosseum or the Eiffel Tower. I can book that stocking stuffer trip for you
And if you have even more money to blow grab the Nikon 50 1.4 for portraits and creamy backgrounds.
3. If you have the big bucks to spend and you want to go into the professional end, pick yourself up the Nikon d600. It is new, hot and lower priced then it’s famous twin, the d800 which I shoot with.
The battle with the high end camera is that you have to go with the FX lens that will run you $1500.00 and up each.
(If you have no idea what I am talking about and want to learn the difference between the DX and the FX lens you can read up on it here.)
4. Ok…. if you have an iPhone 4 or 4s this Olloclip 3-1 will make an awesome, creative stocking stuffer.
You will be able to shoot fisheye and zoom on your iPhone….How creative is that?
There you have it….I feel like Oprah now!
