I managed to destroy a $2500.00 camera body d700 this weekend while I was in West Palm Beach with Brian on an overnighter. That put a little damper on the trip in which we celebrated his birthday.
Thank goodness for iPhones- because that is what I will be using this summer.
I packed it up… $40.00 and sent it to NIKON to see what the damage is going to be. Who knows how long that will be?
Apparently, in my bag…an aerosol sunscreen went blitzo and sprayed and entire can of sunscreen on my LCD screen, it seeped around the LCD protector through the screen…water and goo is floating around the screen. This camera hasn’t had a dent, scratch or the likes in two years on it. I simply pulled it out of my bag to find it coated and caked. Who knows what set it off. I shot three photos before I realized it was a mess.
So I have no camera now, will probably cost a bunch to fix…I want the d800 $3200.00 but on a nasty wait list because of the Japanese Tsunami…could be months…not sure what I will do…leaning towards the repair…which means I will have to bypass the new camera and that is ok- I have loved this camera….so sad that it is ruined. Not sure I really have the money for the repair or a new one. Cameras repairs cost a bundle…I could probably buy a consumer camera vs. a pro for a lot cheaper. AND rumor has it Nikon takes forever!
Emotionally I am ok- things can always be replaced. But gees, my photography friends understand. This was my pet!
Today, I booked my 14 year old on the wrong flight….that is what 25 years in the travel business as an agent will do for you!
He was just stranded in Chicago with Hillary who was booked on the right flight.
Panicked- prayed a lot for a no-show….prayer answered…he got on the flight.
Why I was worried- They had to meet a shuttle in St. Louis at 11:00am to take them to Nauvoo….three hours away in the middle of no where for their camp this week. If they missed that and they were going to be doomed.
I was taking them for a week down there and was going to vacation in the heartland….I had to cancel because of Noah’s All-Star Baseball commitment. Double Yuck!
Strong storms our way with thunder and lightning….not sure how I feel about this, but it does seem a little mystical.
