The second day of my New York City trip did not include my husband, he was busy at the hospital and had a dinner scheduled that night. This cheesy shot is something I do at every hotel we stay in!
The sole intent of my visit to the city was to WALK! And I mean seriously walk. I just needed a little bit of fresh air.
It had rained for what seemed weeks and I was just over due for some air and walking.
I debated as I went over the cards for walking that my friend, Jenny gave me for Christmas.
I finally selected a route.
I came out of my hotel right on to Park Avenue where I began my walk.
My goal was to go where I haven’t walked before. I was determined to get out of my rut of always visiting the same things in NYC.
First stop, Grand Central Station with my camera in hand.
I love the design and the interior.
My walk continued across the street and through Bryant Park.
I was mesmerized by all of the fabric, the icons and the treats.
Next, I made my way down to Chelsea and eventually the goal was to get to Greenwich Village, but my legs wore out and my interest to reach the destination began to be less important. I had walked nearly 30 blocks and I knew I could take a cab to get back but that would defeat the purpose, plus I was guilty of eating this big, fat gelato along the way that needed to be accounted for somewhere along Fashion Avenue.
And, I knew I needed to walk back!
And where did I walk? Right to my favorite Japanese restaurant for lunch where I ate a bowl of Sukiyaki, one of my favorite dishes.
A girl has to eat! And I was starving…I had walked non-stop for nearly 3 hours at a treadmill pace.
After 60 full blocks I made my way back to NBC studios where I landed myself a ticket to the Dr. OZ Show.
I have never watched Dr. OZ, but I had just walked my tail end off and needed to sit down. I made it into the taping where I learned all things about cancer fighting foods and vitamin D.
It was really interesting to see the behind the scenes of the famous doctor.
My day was quickly coming to a close but……
Next, I treated myself to a Broadway Show, the new Disney hit NEWSIES, where I was thrilled beyond belief with the music and the dancing. I am definitely taking my kids to next time we are in town.
Tomorrow, I am going to tell you about the last two hours of my day once Brian picked me up at 10:30pm from the Theater and whisked me off to a little late night date! It made all of my “Sleepless in Seattle” dreams come true.
